Anita interview

SUPromo likes to keep tabs on all of the latest emerging UK talent and it doesn’t come any better then this female pop princess Anita. The singer/songwriter from West London is 1/3 of British girl group Serese who burst on to the music scene a few years ago and the success has gone from strength to strength, seeing the girls perform all over the world, including supporting American superstar Keri Hilson and opening at the MTV music awards in Asia.
Anita is now ready to put her own stamp on the music scene and venturing out alone as a solo artist, currently working on her debut solo album which promises to be full of catchy pop melodies and killer vocals if Anita’s latest single ‘High Heels‘ is anything to go by.
SUPromo caught up with Anita to find out abit more about the pop princess….
Who were your musical inspirations growing up? Michael Jackson was the first music I heard growing up and he has had a profound influence on me throughout my life.
How old were you when you started getting involved in music?
I started singing in school assemblies and plays from when I was in junior school, maybe 7 years old. At that age I just knew that I loved performing, It felt instinctive.
Was it always your goal to become a singer?
Yes, from about the age of maybe 11 when you start to think about these things, I knew I wanted to be a singer.
Who and what keeps you motivated and inspired?
I’m a very motivated person, but if i’m feeling uninspired and like I need a push, I watch Michael Jackson concerts that always reminds me to go the extra mile in everything I do. I love listening to success
stories so I read a lot of biographies and autobiographies about people who are successful in different fields, not just entertainment. I find inspiration in the simplest things too it sounds cheesy but there’s
something about Monday mornings that makes me feel really good, I always feel motivated on a Monday!
People might know you from the girl group Serese, Is it scary venturing out alone without the other girls?  It wasn’t scary because it’s been exciting to explore myself as an individual artist, but I’m not going to lie, sometimes it can be lonely! I drove up to Birmingham the other week to perform at a show and of course it wasn’t the same as when it was the three of us yackering away on road trips being in a group is so much fun, especially if the other two girls happen to be your best friends, so I do miss that.
Who’s your favorite UK artist’s at the moment?
Jessie J her voice is faultless and I see fire in her eyes which is something I love to see in an artist.
Who is the one artist that you would like to work with?
Will.I.Am is so talented and you never know what to expect from him, I’d love to see what we could come up with together!
What would you say has been your biggest highlight of your career so far?
There’s been loads of things, being the opening act at the MTV awards in Asia was epic, and this year doing the Radio 1 acoustic session, the reaction I got for it was a definite highlight.
What can fans expect from your new material?
They can expect the unexpected! It’s all going to be great pop music, but you shouldn’t necessarily expect the next song and video to be exactly like ‘High Heel’s'…I have a few more strings to my bow that I haven’t revealed yet!
Where do you see your music going in the next few years?
Hopefully to the top of the charts and around the world!
For people who haven’t heard your music, can you describe your sound using 5 words?
Lush, Soaring, Epic, Fun, Fire

    All about Anita

www.RichardPascoe.co.uk, www.RichardPascoe.co.uk“I didn’t grow up thinking I could be a pop star, because I come from a completely non-musical family. All I knew for sure was that singing was the best feeling in the world, and that I wanted to be Michael Jackson”.
What Anita did grow up to be, was an all singing, all dancing pop starlet in the making. Born and bred in London, England, but of Indian descent, Anita’s exotic looks and multicultural upbringing have provided her with a wealth of content for her songs, and ideas and inspiration that she has poured into the masterminding of her career, including co-directing her music video début, ‘High Heels’.
“I didn’t go to a stage school, just a regular one, so I had to take every opportunity to stand out-I would force musical sections into the school assembly just so I could get up and sing! I had so many different influences in my head like MJ, Sam Cooke, and Mariah that I soon realised what I wanted to become. I was still at school when I did my first audition, and landed a management deal. The next thing you know, I had formed a girl group with my friends, and that’s when the roller-coaster began!”
That girl group was Serese, who went on to perform all over the world including opening the MTV awards in Asia, getting sponsorship deals with Swarovski, Applebottoms, and Adidas to mention a few, and working with industry greats such as songwriter Wayne Hector (One Direction, Nicki Minaj, The Wanted). Now, after a natural progression, Anita is ready to make an impact on pop music, along with her mentor and manager Richard Pascoe of RP Management.
